When I was pregnant, I think I spent a whole trimester just researching about the best brand of feeding bottles for babies. The consensus? Most moms around the world recommend Philips Avent Baby Feeding Bottles. You see, even though I was planning to breastfeed, I know I will introduce my baby to the bottle when it’s time for me to go back to work. So we decided to buy a set of the 5-oz bottles when I hit the 30th week, just in case.
As it turned out, we had to use the bottle earlier than anticipated because I wasn’t producing enough milk. As much as I wanted to purely breastfeed her, we had no choice but to supplement with formula (good thing my supply eventually went up – but I’ll talk about that in another post).
Here are the 5 Reasons Why I Highly Recommend Philips Avent Baby Feeding Bottles
1. Breast-shaped nipple
The Philips Avent baby bottle was the first bottle we gave to Rigel and she latched on to the nipple pretty quickly! I was worried she won’t like the feel of the nipple as she’s used to my breast, but she never struggled changing from breast to bottle and back.
2. Wide Mouth Bottle
The Avent Bottles feature a wide mouth which means cleaning is easy and efficient. A special bottle cleaning brush is not necessary; any dish cleaner with a long handle will do the job. Also, the inside of the bottle is smooth; there are no pockets or grooves which trap germs and dirt.
3. Less Air, More Milk
Anti Colic Valves prevent the baby from swallowing air during feeding. The nipples also come in different flow speeds (like slow, medium, and fast flow) to suit every baby’s preference. Rigel is a slow drinker so she started with the slow flow nipple. Then, every week, we observe her during feeding time to see if she’s already expending a lot of effort to get milk or if she gives up in the middle of feeding. It means that the hole may be too small for her and needs to be upgraded.
4. Ergonomic bottle
The shape is actually the first feature I noticed when I first saw the Avent Baby bottles. It’s not only cute, it also allows you to get a good grip on the bottle. If you’re as clumsy as I am, you seriously need this! We can tell that Rigel loves it too because she now holds the bottle by herself when she drinks her milk.
5. Color choices!
You’re right, this is not as important as the preceding items, but I just love that these bottles come in pink! Besides, Rigel didn’t have that much hair when she was born. So, when people approach us and they see her pink bottle, they’ll instantly realize that she’s a Little Miss. No Mom appreciates the “you’re baby is so handsome!” compliment for their baby girl.
If you’re a Tamad Mommy like me, here’s a Tamad Mommy tip for you! You can just order your Philips Avent Baby Feeding Bottles online at www.lazada.com.ph. Well, that’s what I did. After that, you’ll just wait for a few days, and voila! Your orders are delivered right to your house. Online shopping is awesome!
Ultimately, it is important to remember that no one bottle will meet the needs and preferences of all babies. I suggest that no matter which bottle system you think you might like, only buy a few bottles to begin with, and see if your little one will use them. A lot of parents made the mistake of buying a whole set of bottles and nipples that just went to waste because their newborn refuses to use them.
Same to what I chose for my first baby. I also did order that in Lazada 🙂
Really? That’s great! Online shopping is just a charm. You click and just wait for it to be delivered to your doorstep!
