I know, I know… It’s been months since we celebrated Rigel’s first birthday. But, hey, cut this pregnant mama some slack. I’ve been busy taking care of a toddler and dealing with my 1st trimester!
We chose The Little Mermaid theme for her birthday because she loves to watch Ariel’s part of your world video. She’d watch it over and over until my phone battery runs low.
Planning and executing the event was a challenge mainly because it was held in the province – which means only a limited supply of party items are available and the list of suppliers is very short. In Metro Manila, I was used to having everything and everyone within a phone call or taxi ride away. If I needed something, I could have it delivered within the day!
Anyway, we maximized what was available and I think everything went well.
So, are you ready for an under-the-sea adventure? Here goes…
These Little Mermaid-inspired shoes were my DIY project. Check out how I made these DIY baby shoes makeover by clicking here.
I also made a crown to match her gown. Click here to check out my blog post about DIY Little Mermaid Crown.
But the crown wasn’t enough for an eager and super excited first-time mom! Haha! I also made a DIY mermaid headband for her.
Ta Da! Her Little Mermaid ball gown! The purple top is inspired by Ariel’s seashell corset and the sparkly green skirt captures her tail.
Our Rigel in her Ariel-inspired serpentina gown. She was just learning how to walk that time! If she sees this gown now, I bet she’d want to wear it again and strut along the living room like it’s her fashion show.
Of course there’s a picture of her getting ready! Why not? I swear, I didn’t know that 1st birthdays are like weddings these days.
The family photo before the birthday girl gets her close-up photo sesh.
And showing more love…
Here’s the pre-party venue. I just love how the hanging jellyfish sets the overall mood of the place. The mini stage was filled with balloons imitating coral reefs and seaweeds.
The cake and desserts! Yummy!
We are so thankful for the boundless happiness that Rigel has given to us. We will never grow tired of the kisses, hugs, and cuddles!
Blowing her first birthday candle!
Our Little Princess Rigel so adorable in her ball gown. She was so thrilled to wear her gown. She was even trying to put her crown on all by herself!
Until she became tired of smiling for the camera. Lol!
I will post the rest of the pictures on my Facebook page – Mommy Krystal. Maybe you can hit the Like button while you’re there. Thanks!
